She undertook this journey with a basket on her head, following trails that meandered through volcanic rock, scrubland, prickly pear cacti, and rough terrain. Every day, she would climb up to exchange the fish caught by her husband, Don José, in this small fishing village named Los Abrigos, for other food provided by the land.

This fishing tradition has been carried on to this day by Juan José, son of Doña Isabel and Don José, and the owner of Restaurante “Los Abrigos.” This tradition has been renewed since the early 1990s when, faced with difficulties in selling fresh fish daily, he decided to establish Restaurante “Los Abrigos.”
